Our breast augmentation patients generally have very high satisfaction rates. Even when they are swollen in the first couple of days post-surgery, they are still so excited about their new curves.
Avoca’s breast augmentation patients
On Phoebe McVey’s post-surgery video blogs, she described how tiny the scars were and how a local nurse was amazed by how neat they were.
Rachel Wallace spoke about how the pain was “completely fine”, and our patient Lorna wrote in a testimonial that “My breasts are even better than I expected.”
After her surgery, Andrada, 37, exclaimed “These days, I feel great and I look great.”
A study published by the American Society Of Plastic Surgeon’s official medical journal confirms our own experiences.
Study on High Satisfaction Rates for Breast Augmentation
The study from the Plastic And Reconstructive Surgery® journal found that an impressive 98% of women who had breast augmentation surgery said the results met or exceeded their expectations.
The study was carried out by Dr. Eric Swanson, who noted that the psychological benefits of a surgery meeting patient expectations resulted in a boost to self-esteem and quality of life for the patients.
Over a 5 year period (Jan 2002 – Sept 2007) the study did post-operative interviews with 225 patients. The average patient age was 34 years old, and the average amount of implant volume was 390cc.
The survey noted six key areas of patient feedback; Psychological effects, Recovery, Results, Complications, Patient Data and Indications.
The interviews yielded very positive feedback from the patients.
- 91.1% of patients found that the surgery improved their self-esteem
- 64.3% said that a month after surgery their quality of life had improved
- 98.7% of patients reported that the surgery met or exceeded their expectations, and that they would repeat the surgery given the chance.
Prior to the surgery, 86% of patients said they felt self-conscious about their appearance, and the follow up survey revealed that one-month post-surgery that number had reduced to 13%.
Pain and recovery time
Patients indicated an average of 5.9/10 on a pain scale. The majority of patients took pain medication for an average of 3-5 days, and were back at work after 5-7 days. This is relatively low for a surgical procedure. Patients reported feeling fully recovered within two to three weeks, on average.Rachel after surgery

Unlicensed medics performing cosmetic surgery is a growing concern in the Irish medical community, Dr. Patricia Eadie has recently gone on record on the issue:
“Unbelievably, doctors untrained in plastic surgery can carry out plastic surgery.”
