Profhilo
In the game of trying to stay youthful, more and more people are turning to injectable treatments to reverse the signs of ageing.
Profhilo is one of those. It works by spreading underneath the skin, immediately refreshing and plumping skin from within, while also stimulating collagen production.
What to expect

Profhilo is a ‘new-ish’ injectable on the block at The Avoca Clinic that targets dullness and all the things we have to look forward to as we age, like lines, wrinkles and skin laxity. And, just like most fillers, hyaluronic acid is the main ingredient here.
Though rather than filling the skin, Profhilo actually tightens it. It works to remodel your skin by encouraging the creation of elastin and collagen. This treatment can firm up skin, whilst also boosting skin hydration, texture and brightness.

Profhilo stimulates four types of elastin and collagen via the slow release of HA. This leads to the tightening and lifting of tissue.
Profilo can do wonders for your skin, let’s explore the benefits of this treatment:
- Lessens the appearance of wrinkles and lines
- Increases the health and vibrancy of your skin.
- Tightens loose and drooping skin.
- Improves the laxity of your skin.
- No recovery time required following procedure.
- No painful surgery required.
- Long-lasting effect.
- Verified as a safe procedure.
Five impact points are identified and injected (on each side of the face), this technique is known as Bio Aesthetic Points (BAP). Profhilo is injected into the lower areas of the face, as this area is prone to dermal atrophy (usually due to diet and age).
Profhilo can be used to treat the neck, face, décolletage, upper arms, above the knees and hands.
This treatment is great for those age thirty and above, those who have started to notice skin laxity and aging, and those who are keen to keep their skin in tip-top condition. Preventative measures are a wonderful thing, and can boost your skin in readiness for the loss of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.
If you feel you look older than your years it could be due to a reduction in the quality of your tissue (causing sagging and drooping). Profhilo works hard to boost your skin. It’s never too early (or late) to look after your skin by increasing hydration and strengthening elastin and collagen.
A face to face consultation is the best way to decide on the right treatment for you. We will take a look at your skin – if there is substantial loss of volume or noticeable laxity / deep folds, we will advise Profhilo as a great treatment to replace elastin and collagen, and strengthen your skin. Once your skin has recaptured its hydration and strength, we will suggest using dermal fillers to add volume, (fillers work much better on strong, well hydrated skin).
The effects of profhilo (increased elasticity, firmness and reinvigoration of the skin) typically last around six months – but results do vary dependant on age, lifestyle and the condition of your skin. We advise our clients have two sessions (with a month-long space between treatments). We can look to providing maintenance sessions as required, again this will depend upon how your skin responds to treatment.
Injectable procedures generally cause slight discomfort (often slight stinging at the injection point), but with Profhilo there are minimal injection points – meaning less discomfort for you.
There are a few things to be aware of prior to undergoing treatment:
- If you have recently had toxin or filler treatment in the same area, you might need to hold fire before having profhilo, we can talk more about this during your consultation.
- Avoid alcohol, aspirin, food supplements known to cause the thinning of blood (unless prescribed by a medical professional), and anti-flammatories (providing it’s safe for you to do so).
- It’s advisable to not wear any make-up on the day of your treatment.
The five-point technique causes insertion points to be noticeable at first, however over the course of the day they will become less obvious. Following treatment, it’s a good idea to avoid too much physical exertion for 24 hours, and don’t contemplate any further cosmetic procedures for at least 48 hours. We suggest you also avoid too much exposure to the sun (this can prolong swelling and bruising), and stay out of the sauna and steam bath (tempting as it is to go and relax, this will hamper healing time too).
