Dr Khalid Khan
We're thrilled to welcome Dr. Khalid Khan to The Avoca Clinic's team of Consultant Plastic Surgeons. With extensive experience as a world-renowned and fully accredited plastic surgeon, Dr. Khan previously served as one of the lead Accredited NHS Plastic Surgeons in Northern Ireland before exclusively joining our team. His career includes providing breast reconstruction and burn care services in Galway for over two decades, along with serving as Training Program Director for Plastic Surgery in Northern Ireland Deanery. Dr. Khan's expertise extends to international publications and presentations, and he completed his Breast fellowship at renowned institutions in Bristol and Atlanta.
Known for his genuine passion for helping others, Dr. Khan has also dedicated his time to charity work worldwide. He's excited to settle in Greystones with his family, where they have a home by the sea. We're privileged to have such an exceptional Plastic Surgeon join our esteemed team at The Avoca Clinic.

Miss Ciara McGoldrick
At The Avoca Clinic, Miss McGoldrick brings exceptional technical expertise together with a calm, considered and premium patient-first approach to care. We are truly privileged to have someone with her extensive experience an patient first approach.
Miss McGoldrick is a proud mother of three and is highly specialised in breast reconstruction and complex reconstructive surgery, with particular expertise and interest in advanced microsurgical techniques having undertaken training that allows her to treat breast cancer patients. With her focus, she has a particular specialisation in free flap techniques which includes DIEP flap reconstruction using fat from the lower abdomen to reconstruct the breast. This is a procedure that can be performed during cancer surgery too. Miss Ciara McGoldrick is also experienced in abdominal wall, vaginal and perineal reconstruction.
Miss Ciara McGoldrick holds an MB BAO BCh from Queen’s University Belfast and an MSc in Trauma Surgery from Swansea University. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland (Plastic Surgery) and a member of BAAPS and BAPRAS. She completed the majority of her surgical training in Northern Ireland, with additional research experience in Canada and advanced specialty fellowships at internationally recognised centres including The Royal Marsden Hospital and St Andrew’s Centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery in Essex.

Dr Matthew Murphy
Dr Matthew Murphy is a UK-trained Plastic Surgeon with a special interest in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Regenerative Research.
He completed Medical School at University College Dublin in 2013 and Core Surgical Training in 2015, where he was awarded MRCSI.
In 2016, Dr Murphy undertook postdoctoral research at Stanford University in the United States, specialising in tissue engineering and stem cell biology. This research culminated in a PhD from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2019.
That same year, he began specialty training in the UK's North West Deanery, working in some of the busiest and most specialised plastic surgery units in the country.
His research was further recognised by the Royal College of Surgeons in England, who awarded him a Hunterian Professorship in 2023 — one of the highest accolades for surgical research in England. The global impact of his work also saw him named a Finalist in MIT's 35 Innovators Under 35 Europe in 2023, with coverage in Forbes, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.
Dr Murphy completed his specialty surgical training in England and was awarded his FRCS in Plastic Surgery in 2024.
Since then, he has been selected for two nationally competitive fellowships in the UK: the Niall Kirkpatrick BAAPS/BAPRAS Aesthetic Fellowship at the Cadogan Clinic, London (2025), and the TIG Oncoplastic Breast Fellowship at the Royal Free Hospital, London (2026). Together, these fellowships have given him additional specialist training in Aesthetic Surgery and Breast Surgery.
Dr Murphy divides his time between London, where he works as an NHS Consultant Plastic Surgeon, and Dublin, where he sees patients at The Avoca Clinic.

Mr Christopher Hoo
Mr Chris Hoo is a highly skilled Consultant Plastic & Breast Surgeon at The Avoca Clinic, specialising in oncoplastic breast and reconstructive surgery. His work combines advanced surgical expertise with a strong focus on achieving natural, aesthetically balanced outcomes.
Following completion of his medical degree, Mr Hoo undertook specialist training in plastic surgery in Northern Ireland before further sub-specialising in breast surgery which is now his primary area of expertise. He has also completed advanced fellowships in Newcastle and Liverpool, gaining extensive experience in complex breast and reconstructive procedures.
Mr Hoo is particularly recognised for his expertise in breast reconstruction, supporting patients following breast cancer surgery, as well as those with congenital or developmental breast asymmetry. His approach blends reconstructive precision with aesthetic awareness, delivering results that restore both form and confidence.
In addition to his reconstructive work, Mr Hoo offers a comprehensive range of aesthetic breast and body procedures, including breast augmentation (using implants or fat transfer), breast reduction, mastopexy (breast uplift), and gynaecomastia surgery. Dr Eleni Georgiadou
Dr. Eleni Georgiadou is a board-certified Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon at The Avoca Clinic with a strong focus on breast and body contouring procedures, as well as advanced non-surgical aesthetic treatments. She is based in Greystones with her husband and two children.
She completed her medical degree at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and subsequently undertook comprehensive training in Plastic Surgery at a tertiary university hospital.
Her specialist training covered the full spectrum of aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery, including breast surgery, body contouring, facial surgery, post-oncologic reconstruction, hand surgery, microvascular techniques, head and neck surgery, burns, trauma management and lymphoedema treatment.
Dr Georgiadou is recognised for her expertise in breast and body procedures, combining surgical precision with an aesthetic eye and a personalised approach tailored to each patient’s anatomy and goals.

Dr Yassir Eltahir
Dr Yassir Eltahir is a Senior Consultant Plastic Surgeon with over two decades of international surgical experience, bringing world-class expertise to The Avoca Clinic.
He holds dual board certification in both general and plastic surgery and is a Fellow of the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS), one of the highest distinctions in the field. He is also listed on the Specialist Register for Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery with the Irish Medical Council.
Dr Eltahir has held senior positions at the University Medical Center Groningen and Bey by Bergman Clinics, where he built his reputation as a leading specialist in breast reconstruction and aesthetic plastic surgery. He earned his PhD from the University of Groningen, with research focused on quality of life and patient satisfaction following breast surgery which is a reflection of his deeply patient- centered philosophy.

Dr Zain Mehtar
Dr Zain Mehtar brings a uniquely international perspective to The Avoca Clinic, having grown up between Ireland and South Africa. After completing his undergraduate medical degree in South Africa, he returned to Ireland to join the Basic Surgical Training programme, followed by five years of formal training in general surgery.
He later specialised in plastic surgery, undertaking postgraduate training and a Master of Medicine in Cape Town before returning to Ireland to complete an aesthetic surgery fellowship with The Avoca Clinic.
Dr Mehtar has a particular interest in reconstructive breast and facial surgery and works closely alongside our surgical team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
